Fillings

A filling is used to repair a tooth affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc., usually caused by tooth decay.

It is a simple treatment that can be completed during a short appointment and performed with or without local anaesthetic. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth is removed and then filled with one of three materials:

Amalgam: This is a silver-coloured material made from a mixture of metals, including silver, tin, mercury, and copper. (As of 1 July 2018, this material will no longer be used for children under 15 and pregnant or breastfeeding women.)

Composite: A tooth-coloured white material made from a glass and resin mixture boasts a strong bond to the tooth structure.

Glass Ionomer: A tooth-coloured white material made from powdered glass which bonds chemically with the original tooth.

Due to their natural appearance and strength, white composite fillings are becoming an increasingly popular choice with patients. They can be colour-matched, making them indistinguishable from natural teeth. Moreover, less tooth removal is required for the placement of resin composites.

A dental visit can be scary and nerve-wracking and I can fully say that I was immediately at ease and comfortable when I stepped into the consultation room :) a lovely kind and personable approach from the doctor and as far as tooth extractions go - this was so quick and felt rather easy! 100% would recommend :)

Having cracked my front tooth over the weekend, I attended Heralds Way Dental Clinic and was originally seen by Maliha Ali. I was then referred to Dr Saqib Ali, who specialises in cosmetic dentistry and having been given the options to repair my tooth, I was given an appointment for three days later. The repair has been completed today by Saqib Ali assisted by his dental nurse, Esma. The result is fantastic. The service I have received from start to finish has been exceptional with a very professional, friendly and caring approach. Thank you to all the team, I am extremely grateful. GF

Lovely service — everyone is super friendly. I can't remember the name of our dentist, but she’s fantastic with all of us, especially our little girls (they're not scared of the dentist anymore!). Cara, the hygienist, is incredibly smooth and gentle — I honestly think I fall asleep during our sessions. Definitely recommend!

Really helpful and a lovely Dentist. I moved to this clinic, fairly recently, so this is only my second visit but so far impressions are very positive. I am particularly pleased that the clinic has opened up a separate treatment area, on ground floor level, as I have mobility issues and sometimes find climbing stairs difficult; well done Herald's Way Dental Clinic, thank you 😊
